How to Support

No matter where money is spent none of it can go to Nintendo through Switch 1, Switch 2, Super Nintendo World, mobile apps, or their merchandise. Consumers decide what companies deserve our support so we can and we must vote with our dollar. Create a noticeable impact on their revenue by supporting other consoles and storefronts instead. Consider selling the Nintendo hardware and games you already own so that eager new customers have the choice to buy secondhand and cut further profits from the company. Focus on playing your backlog of previously bought titles, revisiting older classics, or starting a new playthrough of your favorite modern title.

You can complete your pledge at the bottom of this page after considering other ways to support.

REVERSE MONSTER CATCHING PATENT

Prevent Nintendo from abusing their recent patent (against Palworld) on basic gameplay elements like capturing creatures and riding an allied creature. These mechanics existed before the launch of Pokemon games and by providing evidence of games predating and implementing these mechanics, we can help reverse the patent and free those working in the monster taming genre.

CONTACT A LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE

The following information is specific to residents of the U.S.

The House of Representatives can pass new laws that regard video games purchase rights. Revoking access to your purchased games requires clear advanced notice and must follow Federal laws. Existing laws suggest that licenses and copies of a game should continue to offer access past termination of the product. Although an EULA can determine the duration of a license, planned obsolescence is an anti-consumer method we can fight against. Protection against products not providing their intended services/qualities is covered in Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act Section 2a5. Right to Repair has been introduced in all 50 states and covers U.S. consumer's ability to modify/repair Switch 2 hardware while banning the use of software locking.

Find your state representative and send them an email with the above information asking them to pass the Right to Repair Act with amendments that clearly protect purchased games/consoles from software locking.

CALL OUT CREATORS + FRIENDS

Raise attention when somebody you know is going against their own word on the boycott when they buy Nintendo Switch 2 products. Remind loyal fans of content creators that they originally opposed price changes but have betrayed that stance to produce relevant content. Hold friends accountable when they attempt to hide their purchase history or show secret support for Nintendo in private communities.

ATTEND BOYCOTT PROTESTS

We are making a presence at conventions and gaming events to bring awareness directly to consumers. Consider these a way to get involved in public with protest signs raising awareness for the boycott. Submit protest location suggestions via our contact form below.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD

Use your social medias as a platform for informing others about the war on consumer rights in gaming. Post infographics, news articles, and our website to prove your points. Message your friends to let them know how their spending could jeopardize the future of the gaming market. Go to comment sections and bring attention to the greater issues behind Nintendo's business plan. Send an email to Nintendo that outlines your personal concerns and disappointment with their current ethics.

JOIN ONLINE BOYCOTT GROUPS

Keep the momentum going by engaging with other activists online and staying up to date. People need to know that passion for the boycott is consistently active and taking steps towards meaningful change. Consider following our Twitter or Youtube for calls to action on future milestones. Update your social medias to indicate you stand with others that will not be buying the Switch 2 or its games.

PRODUCE INSPIRING CONTENT

Half of the war is engagement so keep people informed through YouTube videos, Twitch streams, or social media posts. Bring attention to the parts that matter most to you and forge a personal connection to the boycott. Make a positive spin by pushing followers towards indies that resonate with you the same way Nintendo games do. Encourage others to raise their voice and give them the community they need for support on this effort.

PRINT OUT INFORMATIVE FLYERS

Do your part in informing your local community about Nintendo's anti-consumer practices so that their reputation doesn't carry them through bad business practices. Hang these flyers in places like college event boards, your local library, a popular mall outlet, and at gaming events like tournaments and conventions.

FILE ANTI-REPAIR NOTICES

For both Switch 1 and Switch 2 owners living in the United States, Right to Repair is an act that fights back against planned obsolescence in the form of denying replacement parts, voiding warranties based on tampering, and making self service repairs overtly difficult or impossible. Your claim of anti-repair against Nintendo can set the standard for better modular hardware going forward.
